All in a week

First we were in Ottawa, then we hoped on the train to come home, survived the first day of school and we are now thankful for a 3 day long weekend.

The best part of our second trip to Ottawa has got to be Knit Knackers!!! I knew from online raves that this was THE yarn store to check out. First we came up to a little house and I feared we weren't at the right spot but a small sign next to the door reassured us. They have a couch outside to help you as you take off your shoes. Yes, this is just like when you enter someone's home. Once inside, there is a reception desk on your right, a hallway straight and stairs on your left. The stairs bring you to an esthetician, she also raised angora rabbits!!! The kids were lucky enough to meet and hold Moochy (aka the rabbit that does not like to be held) except by Lucas. LOL! This isn't the 1st time that Lucas holds an animal that doesn't like to be in people's arms but Moochy peacefully stayed there and Lucas couldn't have been happier. I, on the other hand, was busy with my very own privated spindle spinning lesson!!!

Thanks to Zoe I get to see how happy I was trying a spinning wheel for the first time. It was terrific!!! I was producing year with my own two hands, I was ecstatic! After fearing my spinning wheel since I have purchased it, it was a blast learning that it can become my friend and not just hold clothes... I am still practicing on the spindle for now and quite surprisingly I am producing pretty even yarn. :) After all the spinning goodness, I wandered through the store, it is very welcoming and you feel like you could stay all day. This is at the top of my list next time we are in Ottawa, just the roving selection was enough to make me drool. lol!

Well back to reality, after a summer of fun and games, school had to start over and the kids couldn't be happier. Lucas is pleased to have the first grade teacher Zoe had, I am happy that I will be in her good graces as I will be volunteering in her class. Zoe's teacher is a new one in our school but she seems a lot of fun and Zoe already loves her.

What better place than the Botanical Garden to do your homework? Lucas is very dedicated in doing them well, it is so much fun seeing him all concentrated and serious for his school work. I couldn't be any prouder of both kids! They are ready to tackle this new year and I am just tagging along for the ride. ;-) That said we have sports to think about, let's see what we will end up choosing this fall.

Now what's in store for us next week?
