Oh happy day!
Still a few more days before we get back to normal life. Until then, we are enjoying the new rich life of sleeping in a hotel (we have slept a few nights at the uOttawa residences) and taking a swim or two a day.
On another note, I made a new friend, his name is Mister Spindle and we are making yarn out of Coopworth fiber. I am having a blast. Ottawa is the BEST, I do NOT want to leave...

Hi ho, hi ho, to Ottawa we go! Yes, we are going back less than 3 weeks after coming home. We are ending the kids summer vacations with a little bang! School, sports and homeworks will pretty much rule our lives for the next ten months. So I wanted the kids to be happy about their summer and also not stress over the new year starting. This year will be busy, with both kids having homework, our family dynamics that changed will also affect how we do things. Luckily, my mom and I are a good 'team' when it comes to the kids, so the transition shouldn't be too hard.
Yes, I have been knitting, I have at least 4 pairs in the works but luckily I have a few finished projects too.

Pattern: The Yarn Harlot's
sock recipe
Yarn:
Fleece Artist merino
Needles: pink aluminium 3mm needles = 7,5-8sts/inch
Pattern changes: a variation of the
6 point toe
Would I knit this again: yes, easy sock recipe
Made them for: moi but of course!
More thoughts: This is a great 'vanilla' sock pattern, I like to take bits and pieces of many patterns to make a sock that I truely love.

Pattern:
Blueberry waffle
Yarn: Colinette Jitterbug Fruit Coulis
Needles: 5" Brittany dpn's size 3mm
Pattern changes: sized to fit a child
Would I knit this again: Yup!
Made them for: Zoe
More thoughts: just the kind of stitch pattern to be mindless knitting but still have a little something more than plain stockinette socks

Check out who is learning to knit socks!!! On her 60th birthday, I gave my mom a ball of sock yarn, she was ecstatic and not the least disappointed that she had to knit the end product. LOL! She never knitted in the round, never used double pointed needles and never truly followed a knitting pattern (in english on top of that!). So she started the sock in Ottawa and we just passed the heel and gusset part, I'm hoping she will finish and start the toes soon. She is loving knitting her own sock and can't wait to start it's twin.
All abord!

We went, we came home and we are going back! This sums it up pretty well. We LOVED Ottawa!!!

We liked it so much that once there, we decided to stay two more days just because it felt so nice to step out from our lives for a while. We did all sorts of tourist stuff, museums, the
Byward market, a
boat ride and even stopped by a
yarn store.

I barely knitted on our trip and this past week since we came back. That said, I have been busy with kumihimo (japanese braiding) and cross stitching. Then yesterday I cast on a new pair of socks before meeting up with some
local knitters. :) I am ripping a few rows to try to avoid the major pooling going on. If it still pools then I will just keep at it and love them anyways, I will not fight with the yarn. lol!

Ever go on a trip where everything is great, the bed you are sleeping in, the food you are eating, the places you visit? Even the weather was on our side! We could not have had a better vacation even if we tried. That said, once we got home reality quickly kicked in and made me want to be back in Ottawa ASAP.

Barely two weeks left before school starts, think I still have time to go back to Ottawa just for a few days?
