fun day!

Today was a fun day off! Kids were at daycare all day (this only happens twice a month). Then we went shopping to Ikea, where I bought that wooden mobile, last time I went was six months ago. The church has a used stuff sale and I found some summer clothes for the kids. Got back home with the news that I might, just might a laptop before the end of the weekend.

(The picture above was taken on the balcony of our hotel room, it was 5:15am and just lovely out. Never had we thought this day was going to bring us snow!)

Sunday morning we left for Sept-Iles, after 6 of the 12 hour drive there, I was proudly sporting my new bucket hat that I started knitting when we left Montreal. I plan on making a few other bucket hats as this pattern really does knit itself up quickly. This week we had a day off while away from home and all the workers together we partied in the hotel hallway. Let me just say that I had more than I few laughs and no headaches the next morning. Good thing I had my digicam handy, I think I might bribe my bosses someday over a few pictures. LOL!

hugs, enjoy the weekend!

Jo's reading

I haven't had the chance to read a book in ages, at the grocery store I picked up a little paperback book and I am having such a blast reading this little mystery. The book is called A body to die for and is written by Kate White. The author mentions Austin Powers and Crushing tiger in the book, it's really a fun little book to read. I can't put it down. :)

Life is a highway

Well as of sunday morning 8am I will be sitting in a truck and riding in it for the next 987km/613miles. This will be a minimum 12 hour drive 'cause we all know that there will be a few stops, remember that I get motion-sickness! ACK! Then monday after work we will travel 2,5 hours to another city. Luckily on wednesday we have a day off, good thing right? It depends.... most people will be partying tuesday night watching the playoffs (our Montreal Canadians against Tampa's team). So wed. is a non-working day BUT we will have to travel about 5 hours to yet another city for the next day's store. We finish our week on thursday with a 3 hour drive back home after our day of work. Friday though I got plans already, our next door neighbour has offered to us to tag along to Ikea with him! Yippeeeeeeeee! I want to check out their pine wook bunk beds. :)

Last week I didn't have much time to craft, I didin't touch anything all 2 days off we had. Yet, I am still determined to bring along more projects than needed just in case, as usual. ;) The paper ring is a very important part of me being on the road. The kids take a ring off of the chain ever morning they wake up. I always add one more than needed so that if we arrive after they went to bed, we will be home when the last ring is torn. The Denimstyle yarn is to start a bucket hat for Lucas. The natural alpaca is for Zoe's lace cap and you can see my Tigger cross stitch project.

Wishing you all a great new week!

just back

What a long week on the road, it was our 1st time working 4 Walmart's in one single week. I haven't had much time to knit or cross stitch, my favorite way to occupy my free time was SLEEP! Sunday we leave for long 12 hour drive, I still get motion sickness so this will be hard for me. Luckily we will make many small stops and I will be sure to take Gravol with us.

I received my Dale book prize from Wendy. WOW!!! There are so many projects I'd love to make from this 126 book. If I could get my hands on a kids book I think I would simply go mad. LOL! The patterns are simply beautiful.

I'm still on the search of a laptop, those little buggers are quite expensive. Then there's the grocery shopping, washing clothes, packing them away and leaving again all in less then 48 hours. Oye! Maybe this week I'll find time to knit?

Well wishing everyone a great weekend! :)

Crafty on the road

We are leaving 3 days and this girl is bringing along a boat load of craft projects to keep busy. Although I usually don't have much time to craft, best to be sure to have projects to keep me busy if needed.

This weeks projects are: 3 cross stitch Winnie the Pooh themed kits, I started the Tigger model over the weekend, a knitted moc bootee pattern for Lucas from Little Turtle Knits, a new 100% baby alpaca hat for Zoe the lovely pattern I'm using was found at Kenko Knits. Let's not forget a hemp necklace kit also, the beads are in orange tones and the accent is a turtle 'bead'. Seems that in the morning, I am just as slow as a turtle before my first cup of coffee! LOL!

Let's see how far I will have advance these projects next weekend! LOL!

Have a safe and fun week.

On the road again,

Wendy has monthly contests and one of the lucky winners of this month's prize is my very own self!!! I couldn't be happier to get my hands on a Dale pattern book. This does mean that I shall once and for all get over my fear of knitting with colors. So many gorgeous patterns in this book, I can't wait to see them with my own eyes. A huge thank you to Wendy for her generosity in having these monthly contests. To see more pictures of the Dale 126 book click HERE!

Some of you know that I work counting inventory, we work in all sorts of stores but right now both Carl and I are on a contract for all the Walmart stores in Eastern Canada. Since January 19th when this whole adventure started we have worked in 34 stores, by Jule 1st we will have counted in 42 more stores. By the end we will have visited 75 different Walmart stores. LOL! Now that's a lot of Walmart's in someone's life. Though the job is pretty neat getting to travel a bit, especially starting this week and the next months. It is annoying to answer everyday that NO I do not work at Walmart nor can I help you find any product in the store. Maybe some people never noticed that the associates wear blue vests with the word Walmart printed on them. That's what I started saying to the customers (usually the rude ones). My shirt is burgandy and says RGIS on it, in our team some have grey shirts but those are printed RGIS too. So when a customer is all annoyed because we are three auditors in one row and all wearing the same shirt they still ask each and everyone of us if we work in the store. We sometimes sound less polite than we should but can you see why?

This week our truck will be bring us the Quebec city, Levis and Beauport. All beautiful areas of Quebec but as usual it's not like we have time to visit anything. I usually check online for any yarn stores in the area, just in case we'd have time to stop by one. teehee!

Have a great week! :)

Happy Easter 04!

Over the weekend Lucas received a little Pucca alarm clock from friends at work. Zoe also got some cool Hello Kitty slippers.

Our little egg hunt will take place later today, also as tradition goes we like to color some hardboiled eggs, eat egg sandwich or anything to use up the eggs after. LOL!

Still in need for a little Easter knitting project!? This cute chick and bunny are perfect for hiding Cadbury eggs. You still have time to knit a few before supper time!

Wishing you all the greastest of Easter celebrations.

Vacation!

Carl and I have 5 full days off from work! We have well deserved all those days off and fully intend to spend to most of it with the kids. The sun is out and hopefully the weather will be nice for all our days off. Nothing planned for Easter, we are pretty low key about celebrations like that. The kids will have a little egg hunt in the yard and we might go out for brunch in the weekend.

Two days ago at work, someone decided I wasn't doing my job right and told my boss that I should not recount for a day. It hurt A LOT to hear that and I wasn't in the best of moods all day. Then yesterday Carl spoke to our boss and let him know I was still pretty hurt about that decision since we were working with that person again. My boss came and talked to me, as we started working, to let me know that the person that though my work was not good enough was totally WRONG! We talked a bit and he then personally wished me a good day. It touched me to know that he took the time to see what was wrong and reassured me about my performance at work. He is younger than me but still I always show a lot of respect to him as he is my boss after all. When he met the kids he really felt old even though he shouldn't. LOL! I think both Carl and I, we got a new form of respect from our supervisors when they saw the kids. It made it more real to see us in action as a parent. I often say how I don't feel all that included in the group as most auditors are in their early twenties. I blend more with the older 30-40yo people, especially those with kids.

I didn't get to knit in the truck this week, it made me so nauseous I had to stop after a row each time. It's really hard to travel so much when you have motion-sickness. I take Gravol almost daily and then feel sleepy on our way to work, that plus not being able to eat breakfast in the morning makes it hard to concentrate when we start our days. I do try to eat but even a muffin is too big of a breakfast. I will try to bring a lot of fruits with us this week. Oranges and apples are always easy to eat while travelling in the van or while waiting to start working at 7am.

hugs, have a safe and fun Easter weekend! :)

Proud moment!

Zoe wins the Gold!!! :) She skated beautifully on saturday morning, was the last one to skate in her category. I had brought a knitting project to keep me busy while we waited but nerves took over, I just couldn't even try to knit to calm down. LOL! Zoe's coach was so calm and never did my daughter feel pressured nor was stressed over this event. She was simply eager to skate and we are so proud. I tried to explain to her that we would have been very proud of her even if she hadn't marched to the top podium but she doesn't seem to understand that. She just expected to win the gold medal. Sadly the season is now officially over at the skating club. The coach she had since september really contributed to making Zoe adore this sport. If she were giving private lessons we'd be sure to hook them up again just because they both seem to enjoy each other so much. Zoe will miss her coach, if wer'e lucky she will teach again next fall. Winning the gold sure didn't phase Zoe, she was mostly excited about going to a friend's birthday party after the competition. LOL!

Oh and I couldn't resist, she received her new bike. teehee!

Now what's up with that silly word Gauge! I knitted up a bootie/slipper for Lucas but as usual my gauge was off. LOL! Ripped it out and now am doubling the yarn to see how much bigger the slipper will be this time. ;)

Have a great week!

Zoe's 1st competition!!!

Today to celebrate Zoe's 1st competition we went and bought her a brand new helmet! :) She couldn't be more proud, as you have noticed in the past posts helmets are manditory in our household. If you hope on a bike you wear a helmet, that goes for the kids, Carl, myself AND we even had my mom buy one!!! When Zoe started figure skating lessons back in september she wore her helmet on and did so every time she went on the ice. Lucas has to do the same when skating too, even when wearing rollerblades in the house both kids wear helmets on. Hey, we don't live in a house with padded walls nor with carpet on the floor.

Now this new helmet has a double meaning too, Zoe is very proud to have worn it last night at her last practice before the Montreal Games. What she doesn't know is that we also got her a new bicycle in vibrant red and yellow. It had to match the helmet, righ? LOL! I CAN'T WAIT to give her the bike. Now that will be very special for her. Only problem is we are all debating when will be the perfect time to give it to her. LOL! After her competition, for Easter or wait a month and for her birthday. The excuse is that the snow is finally starting the melt and the kids love to ride their bikes so should we wait to give it to her or not!? Hmmm.... tough decisions.

Back to skating, the skating club people seem to still hold a grudge against us for not letting the kids skate last weekend. In fact the only person talking to us is Zoe's coach, all others have had trouble even saying hello. Last night the club director came to give us a commemorative t-shirt for the Games and has trouble answering a question a had. Just eye contact looked painful, oh well, at least Zoe's coach will be with her tomorrow and that will reassure her a lot! :) It's a pain though to sit there and seem like everyone is whispering about you and just to smile and see that Zoe is the one skating on the ice. All I know is that it doesn't seem to affect her as her coach has always been the greatest.

Oh well life goes on in our little house, wishing you all a great weekend! :)
p/s: don't forget to change your clocks tonight!

cough cough!

Well this week is pretty tough, I have a cold since monday night. Carl just caught it yesterday. Half of our work team has a cold team, I believe 7 people were missing yesterday. Oye! Work is doing good, I'm just so drained right now. Also I noticed that this weekend we only have 3 days off and not our usual 4 days. Oops! Luckily we saw that last night, then easter weekend we have 5 days off! Woohoo! Then it'll be back to working on the road and home on weekends until may. After that we will be travelling even on weekends. ACK!

Hope everyone is doing well. :)
