better!

Well there are good things to have Carl home. He has been so good at taking care of the kids. Yesterday, he want outside and build them a slide with snow. They had a blast in the backyard and I could see that he did too. He is slowly reconnecting with the kids, I'm happy about that. :)

I got time to myself to KNIT! LOL! ;) I've been working on his birthday gift, since he will turn 25 on saturday. I'm making him Dorm Boots, link: HERE!!! In a day I did about 95% of one slipper, I have faith I'll finish in time! :) I'm using woolen yarn I had bought months ago. I love those yarn because they look so "rich" without being expensive! ;) Especially since I had it in my stash already! LOL![picture to follow tonight]

So last night Zoe asked me to knit her orange socks! LOL! Well.... uh... what am I to do!? Say no to my sweet child? LOL! I DO actually have orange yarn but it's all acrylic so I'll be knitting a blanket with it and let her have it. I've been looking for a chevron afghan patter. There's another word for it but right now my brain needs caffeine to remember!

Hugs to all! :)

ugh!

I've been down for a while, my babies are growing up. It's silly but it's hard for me to accept that and see they are becoming there own little person.

I've been knitting away trying to forget life for a bit. It's hard 'cause I can't seem to forget that once more, dh is looking for a job. Next thursday no paycheck will be deposited in the bank account. We did at least spend the last paycheck on food so we have that covered. I tried to pay the most important bills too. Hopefully he will find something else soon. Ugh! :(

I feel sick to my stomach 'cause I'd love to buy yarn to make him some fuzy feet slippers for his birthday. I can't 20$CAN for yarn anymore. It's just not in our budget at the moment. I am tired of not being able to buy the yarn, patterns I'd live to knit!

I think I need to start a huge afghan and use up all the acrylics we have in the basement! LOL! At least that would keep me busy for a while! ;)

The soaker I've been knitting is going well it's about 99% done. I'm not including a pic because the dark navy color won't come out anyway. Hopefully once it's done it'll look nice on Lucas. All I need to do now is my big ol'favorite kitchener stitch! ;)

Our internet service contract is almost over, we had a special rate for DSL for the past 2 years. The new contract would cost 20$ more. We sure can't afford that right now. I can't see my life without having the internet. It's making me sick to my stomach right now. I have no clue what we'll do.

See I told ya I was down! ;)

hugs, tomorrow will be better

Big Boy is 2!

Monday was Lucas's birthday!!! My baby is two. Woohoo! He had a great day and hasn't stopped smiling ever since. Lucas is growing up to be quite the little gentlemen! :)

Here he is only a few days old. :)

It's hard to believe Zoe was only 20months old when he brother was born. She was still nursing a few times a day. It really made her grow up fast in my eyes when we'd compare her to the baby.

For his birthday Lucas got a boy doll, complete with boy parts! ;) I just love the doll. LOL! It smells so good and I get a kick at showing the sex of it to friends! ;) Lucas likes his new friend so much, it's really neat to see him interact with it! :)

I knitted all of what the doll is wearing. Preemie sized hat, soaker and booties. :)

I really liked knitting with a baby weight yarn. ACK! I wanna knit more with it. I think I need to knit one item for charity every few items I make for our family. A way to be thankful for having healthy kids. When I had Zoe and Lucas, we received knitted hats and booties for each of them and I cherish both there little sets. :)

In the past week I have learned: short row, getting better at kitchener/grafting and something else but I just got a blank. LOL!

One last pic for the road, papa Lucas off to go take a walk with his little one in the sling! Oh yeah, we cloth diaper him too! LOL! ;)

K&K

WOW! Time flies by so fast when there's a birthday just around the corner. I've been knitting like crazy for the past few days. Well that's the little precious time I could even find to knit.

Busy, busy, that's what we are. The kids part-time daycare, my board meeting at the daycare, crafting class.

K&K (knit & knots!): So I knitted a little preemie size soaker, to dress up a doll Lucas will recieve on his 2nd birthday. :) I used a pattern I got from: Knit Something. As soon as I get some 100% wool, I'll knit up a soaker for Lucas. I hear wool covers are great for cloth diapered kids. I can't believe we've used cloth diapers for near to four years and never tried a wool soaker.

Here's the soaker without the ties, I'll be doing that shortly.

I have some mint green baby weight yarn, I'll knit up a little hat and booties set and my mom is making a blanket by crochet for the doll. Man, my boy is gonna LOVE his gift! ;)

Dh is the one who bought the doll, it might sound weird to give a boy a doll but Lucas really likes them. His idol is his big sister, so of course he wants to play with her toys too. I did notice that Zoe loves wooden trains and tools and stuff just like daddy. I don't mind it, I mean it might not last that long having Lucas being all soft and sweet. If it doesn last, I bet he's become the sweetest dad ever! Look at this pic, does he look cute nursing his tubbie? :)

I showed off my fuzzy feet slippers to a few people, everyone is in aaawww that *I* made these! Felt all fuzzy wazzy that people thought they looked great! :)

hugs,

p/s: Dh bought me Sims Online for Valentine's day. I might be busy playing that for the next couple of days! I LOVE this game! :)

super fuzzies!

Yesterday was a GREAT mail day. I receive my first Elizabeth Zimmermann book ever. It was really cool because I received it in a trade I did with another fellow Canadian. Hello Kate! LOL! ;) Even my mom got into reading Knitting without tears! Maybe she'll take up knitting again and I can teach her how to make socks! teehee!

Well with one week late, I present to you my own pair of fuzzies! :) The dpn in the picture is twelve inches long, just to give you an idea of the size.

This afternoon while Lucas took his nap I went all excited down in the basement to start to magical phenomenon that is felting to me. :)

I eagerly sat besides the washing machine and check every five minutes on the dot to make sure my slippers weren't felting to small for my size 10 feet. LOL! Each time I check them, I'd measure carefully the lenght. After a LONG hour finally they got down to ten inches. There were almost dry after the spinning and trying them on was the high point of this experience. They are SO comfy to me. I can't believe how neat all this process has been to witness. Ever since I've put them on, they've stayed on my feet. I think I'm gonna sleep with them on tonight! LOL! ;)

Doesn't this look like the fuzziest of the fuzzy slippers? :)

I can't wait to start on another pair and share the magic of felting! :)

Notice the button under my weather pixie? I made that today, now I need to make my blog template match the button! LOL! Yes I am that quirie! ;) You are welcome to save the save and link to me once you upload it to your own space. Let's be friends and not steal from one another, ok? ;)

hugs,

dolly

Good monday to all! A new week starts and the craziness of the week shall follow until the next weekend and then, it's all starts over again. LOL!

We like to celebrate Valentine's day, the kids will get a bit of chocolate and then they each get little gifts to brighten up their day. Zoe is 3years old and has expressed quite some interest in knitting. Of course I'm not that crazy that I would try to teach her knitting. LOL! So I went out and got the 2nd best thing. A knitting spool/dolly for her! Can't wait for her to see it, I expect she'll be as happy as can be! :) In her mind she will the "knitting" just like mommy! I can see us now, sitting on the couch, watching tv and 'knitting' together! aaaawww! :)

Here's the dolly, I'll include a small ball of variegated yarn to make it fun.

If you tried to come by my blog earlier this morrning you probably got to wait and wait and wait for it to load and then probably just left before it did actually load. I'm sorry, yesterday I installed a comments script and the site seems to be down, so my blog was down too. Now this is really unfortunate, I was so proud to have installed the script yesterday and now if I leave it, my blog doesn't show up for anyone! :(

For now I'm taking out the comments script and hopefully if their site is back on later, I'll just put the script back in my template.

I think I'll sew myself a circular hanging storage "thing". Now that I have so many circ's and since I'd like them to avoid staying curled up in their little enveloppe, I need to store them elsewhere. From what I've seen online the Circular Solution looks pretty simple to make. I was thinking of simply cutting up a pair of old jeans (I kept many after I had started a jeans quilt). I'd take a leg, rip out the seems and sew up channels about 2" wide and tada! My own solution to store circ's. Man I'm so crafty! ROFLOL! ;)

Here's where am at on my 2nd fuzzy slipper. It's 10:15sm right now, I'm hoping to have finished it by the time dh gets home at 4pm! I'll have about an hour of knitting when Lucas goes down for his nap! Yay! LOL! This is silly but I like the part where I'm at, gusset shaping! :) It's all so relaxing to SSK and K2tog, lol! I like to knit and count and do a special stitch and just go on. I'm silly, I know.

Showing off my gusset and yet again another pic of my handmade dpn's!

On yet another quirky note, will I hit the 1000 visitor to my blog today? That would make for a great number one mont exactly after putting that counter on my blog. LOL! Oh and yes, I am easily amused! ;)

Off to try and win some yarn from Wendy's contest! ;) Isn't she the greatest? Check out her many sweaters she's knitted up so far. One day, I'll be half as good and be pleased forever! :)

Being that I want to get into the "IN" crowd. I, too, made a little cartoon, just like Amy and Bonne Marie.

I present to you..... Yarn Savior! LOL!
She will protect your yarn and alert you of any great sales. Will let you know wat are the coolest patterns and will happily be your friend. ;)
Now won't you be my friend too? ;)

sorry

Uh oh! I haven't been a good blogger these past few days.

Frankly, I haven't been knitting much and that's my excuse for not updating! ;) I did do my rounds and read my usual blogs daily though. Been so bus these past days, didn't even have time to knit in two days. That's the hard part.

Like my lil'doll? I made it some time ago just playing around on one of those dollz making sites. I use it in my sig. line on boards I go too. It's just like a little me! LOL! I guess I should make a few others that knit. I really think there aren't enough knitting oriented graphics out there. God knows I've looked for some many times! ;)

Last night I went to a craft store I go once a month or so. Well...... I did it! I finally bought a boat load of needles and I'm set to knit in every size until I die! LOL! They have AERO circular needles at 50% off. As soon as I'd finish a knitting project and start another one, I'd hope back on the public bus and go buy new circ's for my present project. Now guess what happens when I don't meet gauge and need yet another pair of needle? Hope back on the bus and hope this time I'll hit gauge with the new needles. The crafting store isn't even that exciting either! LOL!

Anyway last night I went with dh and he had the patience to help me sort out all the sizes they had left (the circ's on sale are all mixed up in a bin on the floor). I got out of the store with TWENTY new pairs of circular needles!!! I sure busted my weekly budget! LOL! ;) Well dh did just treat himself to a bench saw after all... I converted the price I paid and it averages out to 1,60$US per circ. it's not THAT bad! ;)

Then we went to my favorite chain of thrift stores! I found a Leap Frog musical toy for Lucas's birthday. He will be turning two in just little over a week! ACK! I am NOT ready to have my baby become a 2 year old. ;(

On the knitting front, still the same old stuff. Need to finish the felted slippers, still got to attach the bottom to my bag, gotta finish Zoe's sweater and then I want to make knit doll clothes for Zoe's doll and I need to make Lucas a soaker. :)

This week at the kids daycare, one of Zoe's friend gave her a little red envelope with a chocolate "coin" inside and wished her a chinese Happy New Year. When she had me try to guess what animal year we were and I answered the year of the sheep, the little girl looked at me with astonishment! LOL! What good knitter doesn't know this year is the year to knit! LOL! ;) It thought it was so cute that she had a special token for Zoe, I also received one for Lucas. She looked like she thought I was a genius to have known what year we were too! LOL! Ok so me being a genius to a four year old does amuse me! ;)

slow knitter

Look at what I knitted today! ;)

Just had fun playing with PaintShop Pro, it's been a while since I've used it, Lucas's face looks weird but I'm too lazy to change that.

As I was working on my 2nd fuzzy feet slipper last night, I realized I forgot to cast on 4 stitches at the beginning! OOPS! To the frog pond I went and now I've started over, I'm right and the heel part. Today I was so busy, haven't even picked up my needles yet.

Tomorrow I should possibly have time to go buy some more Aero circular needles that I can get 50% off at a crafting store. I should just buy them in every sizes instead of going back each month and hoping they'll still have the size I want this time. LOL!

I really like knitting with biggers needles and getting instant results, just like knitting with these size 11 DPN's and Lopi yarn. I'm a really slow knitter, maybe continental knitting would be beneficial for me. Funny thing is that I'm left-handed in all parts of life, why is it that I knit english style! LOL! Well actually it's simple, I learn knitting by watching a video online. I shoul've paid more attention to the continental way, I heard that english method was easier to get down so that's what I learned. The day I learned knitting I wanted to knit right away, didn't want to meet gauge or anything, just had the urge to knit and NOW! ;)

I just received some great heart patterns to make dish/facecloths! They will be very cute to give away with soap, that's whenever I'll have a gift to give away. LOL! Anyone want a gift from me? ;)

Well today was a very busy thursday, so off to sleep.... I mean knit before I go to sleep! ;)

A quick test result 1st!

What Was Your PastLife?

hugs,

p/s: how could I ever forget, I just did my 1st ever trade!!!!!! Kate is sending me my 1st EZ book!!! :) Knitting without tears should make it's appearance to my doorstep early next week! I am SOOOOOOOOOO excited, I just can't find any Elizabeth Zimmemann books locally, it's actually ridiculous even. Why are they so hard to find in Montreal? Anyways, this is a made in heaven trade, since Kate is getting in return a book she's been wanting too! Best of trades in my book. :)

Felt-Along day!

Oh gosh! I've been knitting all day and finally have time to post an entry! LOL!

Today is the offical FFFA day, we are a bunch to start our fuzzy feet felted slippers together. Last I counter there were more than 80 names on Kate's FFFA page. I finished the 1st slipper today and just started the 2nd one. This pattern is also helping me to conquer my fear of kitchener stitch. ACK! I've made 2 socks and still they are waiting to be grafted a month later. LOL!

Yup! That's my 1st slipper, it's HUGE but I wear size 10 shoes too. lol! Sorry for the somewhat bad picture, low lighting. Tomorrow I'll take a better one outside. I'm SOOOOOOOOOO eager to felt them, of course I need to finish the 2nd slipper before. ;) At the toe decrease I got to a "uhoh moment" I really got scared that I wouldn't have enough yarn to finish the slipper. I only bought 2 balls of Lopi so I sure don't want to be missing just a few yards and need to buy an extra ball of yarn just to end the project. It must be such a pain to realize you are missing yarn just at the end of a project. Especially one such at this one, where you are so excited to complete the project. :)

I almost finished the the front of Zoe's sweater also. All is going super well! I'm very happy to see my projects advance well like this.

Thank goodness for my online friends who deal with my many knitting related questions a day! LOL! I have moments where I'm sure I am doing everything wrong and they are there to reassure me that yes, it's all wrong but that I can fix it! LOL! ;)

Theresa's (from Knit Something!) soaker pattern is NOW online!!!! If you are a parent and use cloth diapers, run over to her site and check out the soakers she makes. She just wrote the pattern for wool soakers. I can't wait to start on a pair for Lucas. :)

Well off to work more on the 2nd slipper, this pattern is really super fast to make. Theresa (from the Bagatell blog) is the creator of the Fuzzy Feet pattern and she knitting up a slipper today in 90minutes. WOW! If only I could knit so fast! LOL!

Dh has already requested a pair for himself. Lucky for me his 25th birthday is coming up March 1st, this will be an easy gift to make. ;)

hugs to all the FFFA knitters out there! :)

FFFA

After two days of being too busy to even touch my needles, it's been nice to sit down and knit! :) My hands were getting very eager to grab the needles and advance on a project. Why not celebrate my time to knit by starting a new project, so I did just that.

First I had to finish off the DPN's I needed for this new project, which took only a few minutes as two were already made. I simply sharpen the edges of my pre-cut dowel pieces with a pencil sharpener and sanded them to super smooth. They are sooooo soft and I didn't even oil, varnish or wax them. Maybe I should but for now they are really pleasant to my hands. :)

So I cheated and started the FFFA, better known as the Fuzzy Feet Felt-Along! It's officially starting on Feb. Forth but being a slow knitter, I decided to start early. Also I'm just too eager to wait. LOL! I want to get these done as soon as possible! :) I already have an order for another pair from dh so I'll be busy making slippers for a while. For all the info pertaining this felt-along, check out Kate's FFFA page:

I just turned the heel, under the slipper you can see my new KIP bag, bought it for a buck today. You can even see the Lopi band peeking through the bag. ;) You can see my extra long DPN's there too, I made them long so I can recycle them as straight needles after if needed.

I also knitted half of the body of Zoe's sweater, Homespun yarn from Lion Brand is amazingly soft. I haven't had the chance to knit with fancy yarns yet but this really is a pleasure to knit with! A real treat even! :)

I tried to convert my page into a weblog, so you can see many entries on one page but it seems to mix up this template so I'll try again in a few days.

My friend Crystal just learned she is pregnant!!! Lucky her, she can start knitting baby stuff. ooooh aaaah! ;)
