I like Gold!

I don't know if it's the blueberry pancakes we had for breakfast or the handknit socks they were wearing but both kids won the gold medal at the Montreal Games! Let's just say we didn't expect it at all but we are SO happy, that they were rewarded for all the efforts they've put into doing their best. I couldn't be more proud, yet I would still be if they had finished last. Some of the athletes had a month to prepare, my kids had less than 7 hours over 4 days. Lucas was exceptional, he would practice over and over for almost 2 hours a night without ever saying a word. He was determined to do his best, he went at the Games to win the Gold and so he did. Gotta love it! lol!

After our fun weekend, Zoe woke up monday morning with a very sore throat. Her doctor confirmed it is laryngitis and after missing 2,5 days of school, she went back this afternoon. It's her arts class and she sure wasn't going to miss it, no matter how tired she is. I might as well let her go anyways, after tomorrow the kids will have 4 days off. Also Zoe was very eager to tell her teacher about the medal she won. :)

As for moi, I taught myself to crochet yesterday. At first I tried out the ripple pattern that is popping up everywhere in blogland. I was only using a small ball of left over yarn but didn't see myself doing a whole blanket. Then I tried out the Crochet Mary Jane Slippers which came out WAY too small for Zoe's already small foot. So this morning I started a hat, I am still using some odd yarn so this is more for practice than for wear. If the size comes out pretty good then I'll have Zoe choose a yarn for a second hat. Using a crochet is soooo different from knitting, yet it is very fun as this is new to me. I have tried to learn in the past but as a left-handed person it just didn't work out. This time I learn by just using the crochet in my right hand. Duh! Much easier, as all the videos online are made with right-handed people.

Well I hope Montrealers aren't too down tonight after getting SNOW this evening. Ugh! I hope it melts away so that we can do our traditional egg hunt outside this weekend! :)

hugs,
