In love with a scarf,

Yesterday was the 40th anniversary of the Montreal subway system and to celebrate they made it free for everyone to use it! Well now there's a great excuse to get us out of the house. LOL! Lucas got to walk through the turnstiles for the 1st time. He still gets by for free so he usually goes under the things while we have to pay. Today he walked through them with his hands held up high, he was proud!

After we went 'fake' shopping at the Gap with the kids (dang it! Lucas looked so good in their kids leather coat, even two ladies commented about it). Fake shopping is our way to spend a great time without spending too much. The kids get to try out whatever they want without any expectations from us buying for them. It's like playing dress up at the store, fall is great 'cause they can try out plenty of coats without having to go in changing rooms. Shoes are a great favorite of Zoe's too. After all that fun, we splurged them with kids hot chocolates from Starbucks.

Chapters had the latest Vogue Knitting issue and I just love the woven scarf from the cover. I'm trying to figure out what yarn to substitute because Lush yarn gets in my throat when I knit with it and sheds like crazy. I would know, my Clapotis was made from it and it shed each time Zoe wore it last winter.

I've been tempted lately to take out the spinning wheel and try my hand at it again. The worst that can happen is no yarn making, right? I have the time, I have the will, what else do I need? LOL!

p/s: Interweave Knits winter 2006 preview is up!

Happy turkey day!

As a Thanksgiving treat to myself, I decided to jump into a hot bath and relax with a trashy fashion magazine to read. I barely had time to read the 1st few pages that I hear a loud buzzing sound right next to me ears. I look around and to my horror shriek at the BEE in the bathroom. I roll up the magazine and slap the bee and it falls lifeless into the water. I yell and hop out of the tub, Carl finally comes and asks what's going on. All the bubbles and water go away and we see the insect. Let's just say that I decided to forego relaxing for today.

In a way to avoid all the projects accumulating dust, I started a new hat. I used some Peace Fleece yarn and forgot how nice and rusty it feels to knit with it. I adore the way this wool is, filled with flecks of all colors. The pattern is from d-made and is called the Twisted Lattice Cabled hat. I made it with a guage of 15sts and with all the cables it did come out a bit smaller but Zoe's really happy to inherit it. LOL! I have enough yarn to knit her matching mittens so she'll be set for the cooler days to come.

Lucas needed to pick up some fall leaves for a class project, so we spend most of yesterday walking around some unfamiliar parks and enjoyed the sunny day. We filled up our little book and took in some rays as they played around. It has been a great weekend with perfect weather.

I just noticed that I lost a file that had all my knitting notes from the last year. Sadly it had my favorite sock knitting notes in it too. Sigh... I had to go look up some of my handknit socks to remember how I do the toes. LOL! Have you all seen the Bayerische sock pattern? Know that if I had any sock color sock yarn here, I would be casting on today!!! See, I really am trying to avoid finishing any of my older projects. LOL!

Nine yards!

Well this day marks nine years since the day Carl and I met. I now see how young we were and how fast our relationship became serious. We've had bumps and tornadoes along the way but we try to survive.

After knitting the body in four days, I didn't work on the Lucy cardigan for a week. I started the sleeve last night but noticed that my gauge wasn't the same. Of course, I do not have the same tension when knitting stockinette flat or in the round so I'll be riping it and starting over. Sigh! I thought it was going too well too. LOL!

As a quick knit and to warm Zoe's head I made this hat with one Koigu skein. I used the no swatch hat pattern (check nov. 21-27) and 'modified' the half-linen stitch pattern aka screwed up by knitting a knit row between each pattern row. Anyways, I think I had a yard of yarn left once it was done so I was pretty pleased.

I've been running around all week for tests and stuff and I just can't find the time to relax and knit. Luckily with the kids activities I get to knit at least twice a week. ;-)
