It's all about textures.

Well it's easy once you get off the wagon to fall off again. It's been good not blogging or spending much time online these past weeks. Life has been busy enough that I didn't feel like pressuring myself into blogging too. So now onto knitting!

I finished the Fanny shawl and am totally excited about it. It was great when I emailed Wendy and got a response from Italy within hours. That is something I find really neat about internet! This will be my 1st piece to block in the real sense of the word. I am both excited and scared about the whole process. Luckily I have more than enough links to look up and learn from. I hope to block it tomorrow while the kids are at school and far from pins. lol! That said.... I have finished the shawl a week ago and it's still not blocked. :( So as I finished knitting this shawl with my very beloved Lady Godiva yarn...

I went online and bought the Diamond Fantasy shawl pattern, it's been on my to-do list for at least a year and seeing Brenda's finished shawl inspired me to get going on that. After casting on with some Fleece Artist kid silk yarn, I decided that it wasn't going to work out, I was curious how it would work on a thicker yarn. So I went into my sad little stash and got out some sock yarn. LOL! Hidden in a corner was some Regia Silk yarn that I purchased two years ago, when it 1st came out. After knitting with it a week, I can say that I am REALLY enjoying the Regia Silk yarn, it feels so nice to knit with. I did a chart repeat a day and finished the scarf sized shawl within days. I coloured the chart so reading some signs were easier, then I'd fly by without having to look up the signs. It was great! :) Did you notice I now have two shawls to block? So... as I am casting off the shawl...

I remembered a neat cardigan pattern that just came out! Laura from CosmicPluto has designed Lucy in the Sky cardigan. It looks superb and although I don't have the budget to buy yarn at the moment, my stash revealed that I could use up some 2 year old yarn. I saw that Felicia was knitting her cardi with Zara yarn, I got some way back when Elann was selling it. It's been waiting for the right moment to come out and this is it! :) It's been pure bliss to knit with Zara, does anyone dislike it? LOL!

So in all, my last three projects have been pure heaven to knit with! Lady Godiva, Regia Silk and Zara are all yarns that make knitting even better, add Lamb's Pride yarn to the mix and you have my all time favorite yarns to work with! Now I am totally itching to go back to Toronto and pick up more Fleece Artist and Lamb's Pride yarns.

I'll keep the sock knitting update for another day... LOL! Just thought I'd share that I have been knitting for four years now and finally I am not stressing over what to knit. I found the recipe, it's really easy too, knit what YOU want with yarns you enjoy! What's the use to try and please others that won't enjoy all the time and effort I have put into my knitting. My kids are hinting that it's time for something new for them though, that's ok, I know they totally adore anything I knit them!
