Singing the blues,

This morning a little bird came to visit our garden, he is a red cardinal but toay he brough along a friend. The female cardinal really liked our garden, it was the first time we got to see her. Perhaps there are little cardinals somewhere too but for now each time I see the red bird fly over our yarn, I smile. It's so bright, it's so cheery, makes me smile each time. He is too quick for me to take a picture but believe me this bird is cute. Come back any time little red birdie! :)

Today is St-Jean-Baptiste holiday in Quebec, it's our provincial version of the american 4th of july. Every where you look, it's all blue and french, yet here I am talking about the evil red color on this day. Oh well, Canada day is just a week away and all the frenchies will then turn to talking in english and wearing red to celebrate yet again.

Have I been knitting? Nope. Sorry! It is the slow death of the JoKnits blog, perhaps I will be back, perhaps not. Off I go to celebrate in blue, even if it's only that my mood is blue...

p/s: thank you SO much for your birthday wishes, it just made my day so much better! ;) Makes me forget a bit of the bad that keeps creeping into our lives.

A year before 30.

I love to make a big fuss about my birthday so hey, it's my birthday and we're gonna party like crazy! LOL! ;) Today I turn 29, I'm curious to see what this new year brings me, I never expected life to be like this and the dreams I had never involved so many rollercoasters. In a year it will be the BiG 3-0 but who knows where I'll be then, so let's enjoy the last year in my twenties. :)

Boogie Time is almost done, I just need to sew and since I hate to do so, it will stay unfinished for a while... Although I really need to finish this so I can finally stop fishing around in my pocket to see what time it is. ;)

Well that's pretty much it, I have been stitching, little knitting and watching the world cup. :)

hugs,

She knits, she knits!!!

Oh dear, I can't believe it's been this long since I last posted. What have I been up too? I surprisingly picked up knitting needles quite often... it all happened when I watched a soccer game from the World Cup. I was so glued to the screen that I couldn't concentrate on stitching at all. I got out the 3mm needles and finished the blue socks. They have a star toe which I like, it means no kitchener stitch and well, to me, that's a really good thing. LOL!

To keep with the spirit of tagging along with project spectrum, I finished something blue and started something purple for next month's color. I'm betting these will take some time to finish but at least they are cotton for summer. LOL!

Well, Zoe's been doing a few extra things with school to celebrate the last days of 1st grade. They went out for ice cream with their teacher after reading a story that talked about it. LOL! Lucas, my mom and I assisted to a little concert given by the kids and their music teacher. She had a special day at a big regional park and next week is just as busy if you ask me. Zoe is about to finish grade 1! WOW! She can now READ, WRITE, COUNT, her teacher sent us Zoe's portfolio and it's been fun seeing all the progress since last september. The kids also had learning to read braille, they had a month talking about knights, learned about great painters such as Zoe's favorite Claude Monet, had to do searches online and print out stuff. Now if only we could get those school supplies list soon. ROFL! I love shopping for new supplies, especially with Lucas starting kindergarden in the fall, he is SO excited to start. It'll be fun but until then, it's a whole summer of fun and play that awaits us, filled with picnics in every Montreal park. ;) We just had picnics at the park for 3 days in a row now. The kids loved it, I did too, we all had fun eating outside and then Zoe had to go back to school for the afternoon. We are having a pre-vacation with Zoe having a 4-day long weekend.

Check out our superstar #5!

Who knew that I'd enjoy going to soccer twice a week. Lucas is doing great, his team is composed of 10 players and there's another Lucas in his team too. They are like two peas in a pod, both are excited to see each other at each game. Really neat, it was like instead friends, although it's hard to talk to one without the other turning around thinking it's him. LOL! On his 1st game Lucas had a goal, the 2nd game, he had 3 goals so I think he gets the game. ;) It's a lot of fun to see him around kids, twice a week he is really excited for his games, the rest of the week is about counting the numbers of sleeps before the next game.

His soccer coach is a mom of 6 kids, then one of his teammates is one of 5 children (I knew his mom from LLL), in Zoe's class there's a boy that is one of 4 kids (sadly they are moving away though). I am quite fascinated about big families these days, there's just something about them, most kids are really nice and well behaved, sure far from the king syndrome you often hear about in single kid families. I am NOT saying that 1-child families are all the same, far from that. I am saying though that multiplie kid families seem more approchable by me. I am very shy but these kids and their parents are very kind, open, willing to talk about anything and I am comfortable around them. They are/represent what I'd like to be as a mom, as a family. I always knew I'd have more than one, perhaps because I am an only child but also because I wanted a family a bigger than what I grew up with. I like sense of community, I like sharing, I like family life, that is why I still long for a move in the country, we'll see, maybe someday, maybe not. My life can never be planned for so who knows what the future has in store for us. ;)
