Getting older,

It's my birthday!!!

So please help yourself to a cupcake, these have no calories, I promise. Why not take two then!

Last Saturday, we spent the afternoon at the
Botanical Garden (we needed to be there for a meeting) and the kids had a blast taking numerous pictures. Most of the orchids were in bloom and outside many of the rose varieties were also graciously showing off. Sunday was spent at the Old port where an
environment exhibit was taking place. We sat in a
4-H leader's lecture and learned a whole lot about recycling, my kids being the only kids there got to interact with the leader throughout the lecture. It was a great eye opener on simple things we can do to be even more earth friendly.

I have been spinning much more than knitting recently. It's a nice break from my constant sock knitting until... tomorrow, when
Summer Of Socks 2008 starts. The orange roving is what Lucas is spinning, Zoe is working on primary colors and my own is the wool/soysilk pastels. It is a lot of fun seeing my kids do something totally different from most kids. Sure they aren't playing soccer like 95% of the kids in our neighborhood but hey, they make yarn! LOL! Zoe already wants to make a presentation about yarn making in grade four. I'm not spinning a lot of yarn on the spindle yet, mostly small skeins are produced but I'd love to knit up some of my own yarn. That's where this website come in handy:
500 patterns to knit with 1-285 yards of yarn! I'm thinking small headbands would be great for Zoe too, not too much yarn, I can use a lace stitch pattern so it'll use even less yarn. LOL! My ultimate goal though, is to one day be able to spin a yarn to knit socks from. That truly would be the top for me. :)

I HUGE congratulations to Lucas for passing his Aikido exam and gaining the yellow and orange stripe belt! He's going to receive it next fall (the teacher didn't expect so many kids would succeed!) The picture was taken of Lucas when he received a certificate + 30$ for basically being a good student all year. Yay Lucas!!!
I've been busy planning our whole summer schedule with swimming lessons (YAY! I finally found some!) and outings (there's movies and theater at the park). Right now a vacation to Ottawa is up in the air but I will do my very best to make it happen no matter what! Camp Junior Stitches should be back in session after taking a break last summer. I might even rent a tent from the sports store (not worth buying a tent to sleep in the yard less than a week per summer). Kool aid dyeing, needle felting and spinning classes are all in the works!

Happy birthday Jo!!!
Happy Birthday Jo, hope you have an awesome day!
Happy Birthday. And congrats to your little one's big accomplishment.
A very happy birthday to you, and wishes for a wonderful summer and year ahead.
Happy birthday, Jo! (Those cupcakes look tasty!) I love reading your blog, see the pics of your beautiful family and find out what fun things you have planned for them. I think you'll have an awesome summer and have a lot of fun. Enjoy your day!
Older? Yes. Wiser? Time will tell. Happy Birthday!
Happy Birthday, Jo! Sounds like a wonderful summer. Reminds me of all the fun I had when my kids were young.
Thanks for the cupcake...I'm probably the only person on earth that can gain weight eating virtual cup cakes!
Happy Belated Birthday! Best Wishes for Joy and Happiness.
Your children are looking so grown up.
Bonne fête Jo!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!! I hope you had a good birthday.
I love that cupcake holder! It rocks! I want one!
Happy birthday again, Jo! I'm late to the blog party, but at least we've exchanged emails on your actual birthday... and those cupcakes are still good! Hey, what about your second gift to yourself? Has it finally made it to your place?
Happy belated birthday Jo, and congrats to Lucas! I love that the kids are spinning with you!
Happy birthday, Jo!
I know I'm not always the best at keeping in touch... I'm always scared of disturbing you. I read your blog religiously and you seem to have such a busy schedule with your kids and knitting and it's even worse now that you seem to be 100% on your own.
I do think of you very often. Like I just said, I read you and when you spend some time not writing, I wonder what's going on. Of course, I could give you a call but you know how it is, right? =/
I don't really have any excuse. I wish we were closer (not in distance, but as friends). I often think about those days a decade ago and although I don't miss partying, I miss hanging with you. Things have changed, but I can feel very nostalgic sometimes and now that I do and visited your blog, I felt the need to write you. It's public, maybe I should have written you an email instead, but hey - I have nothing to hide =)
I hope you are well as I don't know everything that goes in your life. You are a model to me as a mother. I expect to be a mom myself in a few years and I always tell my boyfriend I hope I'll be as good as you (You don't know him but he sure knows you! Haha). I hope you had a nice birthday. You deserve the very best after all you've been through.
Your old friend, Gen (Tori) *hugs*
