ACK!
January has been a hard month for me, I did the 'no purchase for a month' gig inspired by my very costly tooth surgery. Back in December, I was planning a 4 day trip for the kids and I to spend some of the Christmas holidays away from home. Once I got them all hyped up about the trip and made B&B reservations, I had to cancel it all due to a tooth! Argh!
So today I am going to get a baby tooth removed so the surgeon can access a wisdom tooth that has its roots in my sinuses. I had to count my public transport tickets all month so I could make it to the kids sports without having to buy more than needed. I really pinched my pennies and even got called to work for a few weeks by the school (I'm so happy to have stopped that!).

A good thing was that I knitted with yarn from my stash, I made two unsuccessful socks (different yarns, different patterns) due to Fleece Artist not having enough yardage. Sigh... it ain't easy having ten inch feet. I have rediscovered some yarns that I have but most of it all, I just stayed home so I wouldn't spend. I had a MAJOR case of cabin fever though, it was pretty boring not going out to meet friendly faces but I really couldn't go far that didn't include needing bus/metro tickets.

I kept itching to start quick projects and after knitting two single socks that are doomed, I needed a quick fix. Meet
Quickie Cowl, I used two strands of Zara yarn to make for a bulkier weight and knitted this in a flash. This is such an easy and quick project to make. I even got to learn how to graft stitches in a rib, not all that hard but it isn't perfect either. Since knitting the Sidewinder sock, I have learned a new way to
graft, I use a knitting needle to do so and it is so much easier than doing the regular kitchener method. I then, 'created' the garter stitch way to graft by doing to opposite of the stockinette grafting. LOL!
By the way, I know life is tough and it can be a lot tougher than my little sad note, trust me, the truth is you don't even know half of what happening this past month. This is my blog and I get to vent, I still do keep some things to myself but then again, I may talk about it in the future. Right now just isn't the time for some things, I haven't gotten over a few of the events that affected my family both financially and worst, emotionally.
This was fly by blogging, so I may re-read later on and change it. I just had to get some steam off my mind before going in for the surgery. Yes, I am a tad STRESSED out at the moment!
hugs,

Good luck with the surgery! I'm a bit tight with money right now too so I know how you feel!
I hope the surgery goes well Jo! I think your knitting looks great - isn't it a great stress reliever? I'm sorry to hear about the bad stuff going on in your life, I tried to send a comment on a past post but there was no "add comment" field available. Thanks for the recent "shout out" - your sidewinders look great! Isn't it a fun pattern to knit? The grafting takes a while, but in the end it is a really well-fitting sock. Good luck.
