Yellow brick road,

Sunday afternoon was a quiet time for us, the kids and I sat on the couch and watched the
Wizard of Oz on
CBC. It was great, I haven't seen it in at least 10 years! Great for knitting so I finished the 2nd sock. It was time 'cause I was not enjoying knitting the chevron pattern anymore, actually I haven't since starting sock #2. For me sock knitting is meant for mindless kniitting and I was getting way too involved in working on the socks but it's all good. I like how they came out, happy to have made them but never again. LOL!

Of course as soon as a pair come off the needles, I go to my personal yarn store (aka stash!) to rummage through the sock yarn balls available to me. I still have some Regia Cotton but the Jacquard has been calling my name for quite some time now. This yarn goes way back (at least 2 years), it's from when Carl used to work in warehouses and brought home some yarn overstock. I have a few colorways, this is simply the first one that I found. LOL! So I am back to super simple stockinette socks, it feels great to get back to easy peasy knitting.

Just a few pics from last week, before I got sick and sporting a bad sunburn. We have been all over Montreal to find different kiddie pools for the little ones to cool off. Lucas doesn't really enjoy getting splashes from other kids in wading pools but had a blast at places with water games. Zoe's turning into the little swimmer, yet she still hasn't taken lessons yet. I was thinking of having her take some in the fall but she's hinting for other sports too 'cause in her opinion she can swim. LOL!

Only 4 weeks before my littlest one starts school. ACK! It came down on me earlier today, only 28 days before I send him into the complex world of schedules, rules and routine. ACK! 28 days before he leaves me home alone. Sigh.... why do they have to grow up so quickly?

I think I have the purple yarn in my stash, and I may even have knit up the Regia a few years back. And since we know what the last pair we both finished was, that just shows we both have good taste :)
Looks like the kids are having a lot of fun!
Oh, tell me where these kiddy pools are, I want to take my nephew that I'm babysitting for 2 weeks (1 week done, 1 week to go!).... And my nephew is OBSESSED WITH the Wizard of Oz! I've seen it sometimes three times in ONE day! LOL...Great movie though...
It is the summer for small knitting, with this heat. Sorry to hear about your sunburn. That can really hurt and take a while to heal. We use aloe with some success at relief.
The kids look so happy playing. Remember how long the summer seemed when you were a kid? It seems to fly by now. But with this heat I don't mind as much as other summers!
The chevron socks came out really nice! I know what you mean about the plain socks though. At the moment I'm in a mood where I think that the ribbing I'm knitting might be a bit too much. :)
am thinking of you as you get geared up for Lucas' big plunge into the school year. am so glad you've had the summer of picnics together ;-) you can come out to Sutton & hold Zoé any time, you know-- you're all welcome to come out & visit! thnks for your sweet words Jo, KAF
