Singing the blues,

This morning a little bird came to visit our garden, he is a red cardinal but toay he brough along a friend. The female cardinal really liked our garden, it was the first time we got to see her. Perhaps there are little cardinals somewhere too but for now each time I see the red bird fly over our yarn, I smile. It's so bright, it's so cheery, makes me smile each time. He is too quick for me to take a picture but believe me this bird is cute. Come back any time little red birdie! :)

Today is St-Jean-Baptiste holiday in Quebec, it's our provincial version of the american 4th of july. Every where you look, it's all blue and french, yet here I am talking about the evil red color on this day. Oh well, Canada day is just a week away and all the frenchies will then turn to talking in english and wearing red to celebrate yet again.

Have I been knitting? Nope. Sorry! It is the slow death of the JoKnits blog, perhaps I will be back, perhaps not. Off I go to celebrate in blue, even if it's only that my mood is blue...

p/s: thank you SO much for your birthday wishes, it just made my day so much better! ;) Makes me forget a bit of the bad that keeps creeping into our lives.

I've been running around trying to get Twink off on her annual summer stay with her dad, so didn't see the birthday post...Happy Belated Birthday! And I hope you're okay, sweetie...thinking of you. Posted by: Lee Ann at June 25, 2006 07:53 AM
I know what you mean about birds, they have a way of perking us up with their energy. It's great to hear them singing in the morning, even if they do wake me up after getting to sleep late. There is a particularly noisy but musical one I've never laid eyes on but wakes me quite often, now that the windows are open. Half of me hopes you'll get back to blogging after a break, but the other half understands completely when hobbies change or family demands take up extra time. With your kids out of school for the summer, spare time to yourself becomes a lot harder to find, I don't think I'd choose blogging over a lot of other activities, such as reading, or knitting (although it is getting to be too hot to do comfortably) or listening to a favorite music c.d. or just sitting outside watching nature with a cold glass of lemonade. I don't work outside the home either, which is a long story but I really feel like being a mom, being able to stay home and spend lots of time with the kids has been more rewarding than having lots of money in the bank. Just remember to do a little kindness for yourself every day. This nicely balances out all the good stuff you do for your kids constantly without even thinking about it or realizing its importance. After all raising the children well is the most important thing we'll ever do. But a little re-charge of our batteries makes it easier to parent. I hope you and your loved ones have a wonderful summer. My kids are lots older, 19, 16, and 13 but they love the break from the strict school routine. My youngest and I were just outside weeding, carefully, as there seemed to be many dozens of the cutest little baby toads hoping everywhere. It was nice to not be rushed and just have fun observing them without the pressure to hurry up, she has homework to finish. And the other day as I stood bleary-eyed taking out one of the dogs at 5:30 on a misty morning, this small group of ducks flew overhead, softly quacking as if trying not to awaken the neighborhood. Your knitting is a few big steps better than mine, so has inspired me to not give up as I rip a sweater sleeve back for the umpteenth time. Thanks for the little glimpses of your life up north!
