Birthday boy! :)

Today my baby is 3! Time sure flies by when we have kids. Lucas is still sick though but hopefully he'll be able to hold something down todday, he hasn't eaten more than a snack in two days. This is the hardest part of being a parent, standing there and seeing your kid in pain and not being able to magically take it away. He usually is much cuter in pics but today he had his little 'I smiled snap the picture already' attitude! ;)

As usual his spirits are good though, he's always such a happy child. It's in the evening that he gets a little less happy. You can see that he becomes miserable and all we can do is hold him until he falls asleep. He gets up once a night and that's pretty much it. I got up at 6am with his this morning, OYE! after a few days off of work 6AM seemed too early. LOL! He is mellow, happily watching Caillou and drinking his rehydration drink. Now if only he could eat, I fear that he will not want to eat from being afraid it will not stay in his system. Poor kid, he just LOVES food too. UGH! No birthday cake for him either, such a sad time to celebrate his birthday.

Anyways, tried to knit a bit but Lucas kept us busy with cleaning up and laundry. ;) At least one thing is constant, the only place he feels great is when in the tub. This boy could take a bath all day long if we let him. Hopefully today will be a good day and we will at least get him out of the house for some fresh air.

As for knitting content, here it is. I have always been obsessed with bags (others might love shoes instead) and knitting a bag is like the best thing to knit in my opinion! LOL! So I'm thinking over buying these patterns or not. First up is Mercury, a felted messenger bag that is big enough for your laptop. Ok, so I don't have said laptop but I love messenger bags. Then there's the patchwork style PATCHpurse. This bag (I don't like the word purse) just looks fun to stuff with little treasures. LOL!

Then there's this new obsession I have about socks, I really should start knitting a pair again. Still have a few lonely single socks but knitting a pair is just too boring, right? ;) So I've been researching a new way to knit socks and the afterthought heel intrigues me. I have seen this book online too: Crazy Toes & Heels. I've heard many good comments about the book and not really anything bad, so why am I still wondering if it's worth it? LOL! The price is pretty steep, if only they had a sale or something! ;) Would this book really make me knit BOTH socks and finally get a wearable pair of handknitted socks for myself? LOL!

Well off to celebrate the birthday boy! Here are pictures on his first day in our family. :)

Try making House Elf socks à la Harry Potter: one red, one green, sure to keep the second sock syndrom away. ;^) Posted by: Karin at February 17, 2004 02:03 PM
Happy Birthday Lucas! He will definately eat again. Especially if he is a good eater to begin with. He'll get hungry and he'll get over the fear. Just keep up the liquids! Posted by: Kathleen at February 18, 2004 08:12 AM
