charity knitting

If you made the resolution of knitting for charity this year here's a little link for inspiration! INKnitters has 2 booklets to download filled with many fun patterns to work on. Maybe we could encourage ourselves and start a little knit-along and work on a pattern for someone who will really appreciate it. Anyway, if anyone is interested in joining me in charity knitting, please let me know.

Working on the 1st sleeve of my top secret sweater, one day it'll be done, until then it's working up slowly.

More patterns for charity knitting, I knit for babies so those are the links I share. There are many more in need too, military stationed away from home, cancer survivors and elders at your local hospital, animals in shelters. Choose a cause and don't just sit there, knit something!

Not sure where to send your knitted items? Call a local hospital, birthing center, maybe even the local WIC chapter of your area. Many are in need locally, if you want to help elsewhere there are many in need also. The few that come first to mind are afghans for afghans, project linus, many other causes here: charity causes online and here: charity knitting.

That's it for today.
hugs,

Aren't those great colors? Those are the latest Regias. I can order them from a place in Germany, but I'd have to pay twice what I'd pay here. I want them *NOW*! LOL (Channeling Veruca Salt from Willy Wonka.) Posted by: Lisa at January 4, 2004 01:50 PM
thanks for the great links. I gotta get myself in gear and give something away to someone I *DON'T* know. it's hard to motivate something. thanks for this. Posted by: Rachael at January 4, 2004 08:49 PM
Being handicapped somewhat, and the fact that I love to knit, I'd like to do some charity work. I do regular charity work and am on several boards but would love to take on a project for those less fortunate. Posted by: Karlene at February 15, 2004 04:39 PM
I have lots of spare wool and want to start knitting for charity straight away. Will keep in touch and let you know how I get on. Posted by: Maureen at February 20, 2004 04:50 PM
I am a member of a small group of seniors (they let me in even though I am not quite old enough!) that knits afghans for Habitat for Humanity. I have just finished knitting 14 small bears in the last 2 weeks(thank you bevscountrycottage.com for your great pattern). On 3/20 these bears will be on their way to Guatamela with a local medical mission to be given to children after surgery. This was not an organized charity but rather a gift given where the need was. Being in a small town we do not have a great need for preemie caps so we knit newborn caps for all the babies born. I have committed ato myself to knit one hat per week. In other words, I love to knit and think knitting for charity is far more important than one more sweater. Many of the item I make are in honor of my children and grandchildren. I am always looking for new projects in my community. "If everyone does a little, then, no one person has to do a lot." Posted by: Nancy Aldredge at March 8, 2004 09:51 PM
