pre-new year's eve

Yesterday, went shopping in the crafting isle of Walmart's. Those little Christmas kits are always tempting but I resist when having to pay full price for them, once the prices drop, then I splurge. ;) They had some acrylic yarn on sale but resisted that, though even dh thought the blue colorway was nice. Maybe a kid's sweater would end up being made if I did get one of those huge balls. I gave my mom a kit to make little crystals, hopefully they'll be easy that she enjoys making them. LOL!

On my way home found the latest Knit It! magazine, I didn't even looked through it before purchasing the issue. I just know it'll be a nice read, even if it's just for the articles. Starting reading and right on page 10, I liked all the 3 things mentioned. One was about a kit sold at Knitting To Go (their packaging is simply the cutest and made me want to know more about them). Second thing was a mention about the Weekend Knitting book (which I have thanks to a great friend! and which includes great patterns and a few extras), third is a little card featured on the page, it was a little yarn basket on it and is just the cutest ever. Anyway I have the Canadian version of Knit It, not sure what it means so your page 10, might be different from mine! ;) I read about the Knit Cafe in West Hollywood, oh my goodness, I can only dream about going to sip tea and knit in a place like that. It must be heaven on earth for the local knitters. Maybe I should start something similar in Montreal and then invite Veronik Avery in for workshops! teehee! ;) Wait she makes good coffee, maybe we could be partners and create the Jo and V coffee 'knittery', ok that needs work. ;) So back to the mag, there's at least 2 patterns, I'd love to knit for myself and I haven't even gotten to half of the issue. Knit It is one of those magazines that you either like or don't, I do and am excited that I got to buy it. :)

Working on my topsecret sweater shhhh! ;) Finished the 1st ball of the 4 it requires, am about halfway from needing to start the sleeves, didn't knit yesterday but will get back to that shortly. Taking the subway will give me some time to knit. Might buy the Stitch n' Bitch book today if it is available at the book store.

So what's everyone doing for New Year's Eve?

hugs,

Oh that's exciting to know that the new Knit it is out. I agree, it would be fun to have a nice place to go drink tea and knit. As for New Year's Eve -- no big plans, we're usually asleep before midnight! Posted by: Brenda at December 30, 2003 02:23 PM
Hi! As for New Year's plans... knitting and football, what else?? Have a good time and be safe. Posted by: Chery at December 30, 2003 09:48 PM
Gosh, I practically live at Walmart...how come I never find Knit It there?? (must make a mental note to give that local Walmart manager a good talking to!!) I'm looking forward to putting the kids to bed early (they've had visiting relatives for the last week) and knitting and sipping a bit of wine. I don't even care if DH hogs the TV remote, it will be so nice to have our house back to ourselves!!! Have a great New Year Jo! Posted by: Rachelle at December 30, 2003 11:32 PM
I'll have to keep my eye out for the new Knit It. Maybe it will require a little shopping today? :) We stay in for New Year's Eve, put the kids to bed and settle down to a nice "adult" dinner and conversation -- with champagne, of course. Happy New Year, Jo! Posted by: Kerstin at December 31, 2003 07:28 AM
Hey, nice sweater! I've got one myself, in brown. I've been meaning to email you but things have been crazy - so I'll 'talk' to you in the new year, hope you have a great evening! Posted by: kate at December 31, 2003 03:58 PM
