more for charity

Finally the 3rd hat is done, I've been working on it only at Zoe's skating lessons (which she has tonight!) and it wasn't moving very quickly. Went to the mommy & coffee group this morning, hadn't been in around 2 months. I seem to have picked up some speed while knitting continental. I am so proud, it's really going well. I just need to work more on purling, which is why you can see some purling 'design' on this hat. I think I'll do more on the next hat which peach very shinny acrylic hat. LOL! I might make a few ribbing hats also, those can fit a greater head size.

Since I am truely enjoying knitting for others more than myself, these hats are perfect. I think I will keep on making charity knitting a main focus on my next knitting projects. I wouldn't knit socks for charities as I find those too long to make but hats are quick easy and fun to make. If anyone feels like unloading some yarn (whatever kind, I can find someone who would appreciate it, either local hospitals for acrylics or afghans for afghans for wools), I would gladly knit items for charity but don't have that much yarn to give away.

Tomorrow I'm going shopping with Veronik (Avery but you knew that right!) It's always fun to go shopping with her, we talk a whole lot about knitting (I slip in my latest knitting questions in the conversation each time). LOL! We check out knitted items and I learn how things are made, why some items look ugly or why they never look good on people other than the plastic mannequin wearing it. Too much of you suprise (I'm so sure), I will be looking at hats. ;) Though I am in love with the kits offered at the Bea Ellis Knitwear website and the fact that it would be a great opportunity to learn fair isle. If I see something that I like tomorrow, I might jump on it or not. If I were to order a hat kit from Bea Ellis, which one do you prefer? This year I really have a 'thing' for snowflakes, I would either go with blue and white or red and white colors.

Simple pleasures are what make us happy, yesterday a smiley cookie was what make the day. My mom stopped by a local bakery shop and brought these home, the kids ate lunch as fast as they cook and got to bite into these silly cookies. None left for today but I think that simply means we should start baking cookies! ;)

hugs,

That red hat looks great! Those snowflake hats are beautiful -- my favourite is #3. Maybe you just need to put away the Kureyon for a while, Jo. Don't force it! Posted by: alison at December 19, 2003 03:22 AM
