post-halloween

Halloween was a blast, the kids went out in the evening, Zoe as a "fisher-woman" and Lucas as a firefighter. In Quebec firefighters wear yellow coats and pants. Lucas had a black coat, just like the ones the FDNY firefighters wear. By the end of our trick or treating a fire truck passed by, one fireman noticed Lucas and scream "a fireman". Everyone in the truck got there head and arms out and waved at us like crazy, they were so happy to see him. It was really cute! :) Then there was a man who smiled at us, he was also a fireman and was very happy to see that Lucas was wearing a black coat as it's not like our local firefighters coats.

He got plenty of candies, the kids went to bed led and I woke up the next morning with a cold! UGH! I was miserable but nothing a dose of Tylenold Cold couldn't take care of. In fact today, I don't even have any cough symptoms anymore, just tired but that's regular for me! LOL!

I started working on the 1st cable hat for dh's boss. (Here's a link to make cables without using a cable needle, trust me it's E-A-S-Y!) It's going well, the yarn is 100% wool and hopefully he won't run it through the washer or else it'll felt! ;) Went to a yarn store on friday and got not so nice service, then paid 1$ more for each of the 5 balls of wool I puchased. UGH! I had to buy them now though, I sure wasn't going to go back to the LYS that gave me awful service earlier last week. So now, I'm out of two yarn stores, it's the 2nd time I pay 1$ for each ball of yarn I buy. It's not fair that I have to pay so much extra, when the service isn't very nice in the end. Prior to going to the store, dh had called to see if they had Galway wool instock. Nope, we don't carry that here, said the voice. Sure enough, I knew I had seen some there. We went to the store anyway (it's not like there are many other yarn stores in Montreal), I walked right up to the Galway and chose the colors I wanted. The seller proceeded to tell me they never had any bad comments about this said yarn in the ten years she's been selling it. Hummm, why did she say, they didn't have any on the phone then? Do I not looking worthy to buy yarn or what? ARGH!

Today is a rainy day, we got up pretty late at 9:30am (when you have kids, that's LATE!) lol! It's passed 1pm and still we are just hanging around the house doing nothing. It's just one of those days. ;) It's supposed to rain for the next two days too, oh well, we'll find an excuse to get out soon enough. Tomorrow dh was to have the day off but unfortunately his boss called bright and early to have him come in. SIGH! I had already made a few plans to make the most out of our day. I still haven't gone to the clinic with the kids to get a final diagnosis about their asthma, I find it hard to believe they have it. Maybe they do but we were only told by one doctor and then other doctors we saw just went by what they read in the kids medical file. Anyway, it's easier for me if dh could tag along at the clinic because I'm always forgetting to ask stuff or forget half the things that were said in the office by the time we get out. I guess they aren't really in crisis right now, they simply have a cough so I don't want to doctor to say it's from asthma as an easy answer. Why is it so hard to get good service, either be at the yarn store or the kids clinic.

Rant, rant, rant! I tell ya, I'm on a roll! ;) Yeah, like WHY do people read my blog anonymously, what's the purpose of hiding when all you are reading is a simple blog about knitting. Silly thing is I know exactly who is doing this, most likely the same reader who used to come by my blog 5 times a day just to see whatever. Silly I tell ya. LOL!

hugs,

People read your blog anonymously? Why? It must be one of your many enemies. *teehee* Or maybe I mean "enemas?" :) Posted by: Kerstin at November 2, 2003 02:00 PM

Jo, I'm loving that cable hat pattern! I just can't put it down and am almost done. I'm using 100% wool as well. Funny, I used the same site you did for cable without cable needle (before seeing your post), sure makes it easier! You asked my opinion about Patons Decor. It is okay yarn to knit with. It doesn't split or anything, and comes in lots of nice colours. I'd use it again. Wish it was softer though! Posted by: Brenda at November 2, 2003 09:32 PM
Zoe and Lucas are adorable! And ooooh, I've got to try the 'cables without using a cable needle' technique... Posted by: Kim at November 2, 2003 11:37 PM
L & Z are soooo cute! Did they share their candy with Mommy? You know I'm not reading anonymously, Jo! Blah blah blah, commenting all the time... :) Posted by: alison at November 3, 2003 01:00 AM
OOOOH I really love the hat! It looks pretty hard to me. Maybe in a few months I can attempt cables. I can't believe the service you have been getting at your local yarn stores hon. It's an outrage! LOL I ventured out to the other store that could be considered local in search of Bliss and could not believe how different the store was. The owner was very flustered and not nearly as knowledgeable as my dear Joan. I only bought the Bliss and then went to see Joan for all the other things I needed ;-) I will never stray again! Thanks for the links for the cable. I had no idea you could do that! Thanks! Posted by: Lisa at November 3, 2003 03:05 PM
