R, for Ramblings, blablabla

Well long time no log! LOL! I've been busy! ;)

Friday was a date night, dh, Zoe and I went down town and we had a blast. Zoe got to go on a caroussel in a store and also ate a Happy Meal at McDonald's. I was the hero for a day! :) I don't get to be one very often. She was amazed at the Ogilvy's decorated window. I was pleased as can be. I used to love that window and looked forward to seeing it each year. It's fun to get to see my daughter's eyes light up just like mine used too at her age. :)

What did we do this weekend? I should've blogged back then 'cause I forget. ACK!

Well let's start with what I do remember, today! I went to my mommy group at the daycare. The kids were so excited to go today, it was their 1st time in two weeks back with the friends. (OH! I just remembered about monday! LOL! It'll follow after.) It was the last mommy group before the holidays, we won't have another chance to get together before 2 weeks. Someone brought liquor today and we all had spiked coffee! Some moms were sure laughing louder than usual! ;) I received a Christmas card from one of the mom's that really touched me. It said how I brought a breath of fresh air to the group and that without me it doesn't feel the same anymore. Being that I'm a VERY shy person, receiving such a nice note made me feel special for a moment. I've grown to like the moms that I really thought I had nothing in common with. Wednesdays are now an exciting day for me, each week I look forward to it. I talked to someone today about the Food Network TV. It was so surprising to know someone who had the satellite and then who watched Emeril and the New York chef that travels the world. She had 4 kids and we just don't have much to say to each other usually but WOW! we both watch Emeril! LOL!!! Both kids got a letter from the North Pole waiting for them at the daycare. I'm so happy they get the kids to write to Santa because I just forget to do that with them until say December 24th! We are very lucky to have such a daycare, it's probably because this isn't a full time daycare that the kids get more personalised attention and activities to do. Monday the kids will go for a full day, usually that's the day the center is closed but I guess it's a special before the holidays. It'll be nice 'cause we can get all the finishing touches down before the 24th.

December 24th is the only day we have something planned for the whole holidays. We are going for lunch across the street. Zoe's godmother, her boyfriend and her parents invited us over. I hope we have fun... I dread it a bit as usual but this year for different reasons. Her father smokes... TONS!!! He will not smoke in another room just to spare the kids. I hope they will be ok, I'm thinking we will stay two maybe three hours and then we can go take a nice walk. Hopefully the kids lungs will get to enjoy fresh air. I don't know what an asthma attack looks like, I'm so afraid I'd miss it and then.... you know.... I think about terrible things.

This just got me thinking, I got a call from the ambulance "company" today. When Lucas and I took the ambulance to the hospital back in October, I had still not paid the bill. There's been so many bills overwhelming me for the past few months, I've been late with all of them but now I'm getting back on track. They will all get paid by internet in the morning! Dh's 1st paycheck is supposed to be deposit at midnight! So I call back the lady about my ambulance bill and tell her I will pay it today, she then says that she called to offer me a way to pay in a few installment with no interest! WHAT!?!? I was in shock! What a great company! How often does this happen, so I told her that it would really help us and I'd be willing to pay have the bill right away and then half in a month. I really want to pay it off ASAP. I'd feel so bad if we needed to take the ambulance again with still the last bill over our heads. An ambulance can really be a lifesaver and I want to be on good terms with them.

Monday was the Chritmas party at the daycare. We had such a blast, the kids sang, danced, Santa came and gave them the gifts each parent had brought for their own kids. Then, we got a bonus!!! The local deputee came for a surprise visit she gave each child a toy, the boys each got a collectible car and the girls got little baskets of glitter gel and comb sets. I was proud of being a part of the daycare's board once the depute who is also the minister of culture (this might have translated wrong!). She talked about how the daycare's mission was a beautiful one for family's and it was all just very nice. :)

As a surprise to Zoe and a cheap way to practice for my mom's Christmas gift, I bought some sock yarn yesterday. Once ball should wield a pair of toddler sock and I'll need 2 balls of yarn for a pair of adult socks. I started knitting a pattern that should be ok for Zoe, I'm using fingering yarn which one TINY, very fine. I'm not sure what people use this yarn for in everyday life, it's yarn from the church sale I went to a few weeks back. Then one I make this little sock I'll use the sock yarn to make a pair for Zoe and then I'll be really ready to make my mom's pair. LOL! Quite simple, hun? ;) I'm also planning on making her a seed stitch scarf with variegated yarn, it's a gorgeous mix of colors. Mom says shes willing to e patient and wait for the new year for her socks. She wants socks instead of just a scarf but if I'm quick enough maybe I can make both! :) She's still surprised that I've been knitting so much. It's unbelievable it's true! LOL! Usually I like a new craft for a few weeks but that's it. I've been knitting for oh... 3 months! LOL!

I've been sewing too! Well, ok, I've been serging! ;) Nothing big, really basic even but once again I'm proud of myself! :) I've started asthma pump pouches! :) Lucas will get a blue fleece pouch with a drawstring on it, I will try to applique a big star on the bag as all his asthma related "stuff" has star stickers on them. Zoe has a red pouch and will get a heart applique if all goes well. My mom and I were at the fabric store tonight and they've been renovating the whole store. The yare having a boxing day sale on the 26th, the fleece will be on sale and I'm hoping to get some to make pants and a few a-line "sleeve-less" dresses for Zoe, the kind where you put a turtleneck under it. My daughter is very into wearing dresses, she LOVES them. I'm hoping I can try and sew her a few nightgowns. You know, one of those days where I have nothing to do! ;)

Last but NOT least! Thank you to those who read me! You might not realise(!?) it but it's really nice. Ok, some of you might know it as you blog your thoughts too! ;) I should take more time to get to know you all!!! I've been a bad diary reader and supporter. I have been stalking down a few knitting journals and didn't read the mommy ones as much. As you know being a mom is a TOUGH job, not always as appreciated as we wished but it is an important job and we do it as well as we can out of love for our children! So.... in a very quirky way HIGE FIVES to all the moms out there! We are doing great, we have beautiful children, healthy when we are lucky and loved and watched over when they are sick. To those who are pregnant, I wish you a great pregnancy filled with joy and happiness. For those who read me in the wee hours of the night, at least you know where your child is. It's the holiday season and some moms are hoping to hear from their kids for Christmas, some will and some won't. Ok I have no idea where this is going, sorry for the melo act. I'm tired lol!

Knit 1, purl 2! ;)

hugs,

p/s: the kids are now very cooperative when it comes to taking their asthma pumps. Alot of negociating but it works! So that's one less battle 4 times a day to deal with. ;)
